Ocean Wise Educators support the Plastics Research team through an interactive display set up at the GLOBE Series Conference based out of the Vancouver Convention Centre. This conference focuses on clean economy solutions, and our display highlights our leading research in marine micro-plastics. 

The display consisted of information panels on how our scientists extract tiny plastics from local water samples, and what they are learning from their research. A washing machine was installed to illustrate the vast number of micro-fibers coming off our clothes during the washing cycle and diagrams/animations to show how the plastic pieces can enter into the food web.

The other major component of the Ocean Wise display was the launch of the #BePlasticWise campaign, which offers anyone the opportunity to make simple, yet effective changes to their plastic habits to protect the ocean from plastic pollution.
