Canada Star Secondary

May 29, 2019  10:45 - 13:50

Location:  Canada Star Secondary School

Conservation, Research and Action is designed to introduce secondary students to the many issues that our oceans are facing today. The program begins by discussing the relationship between sea otters, sea urchins and the kelp forest; discussion of some research projects initiated at Ocean Wise Conservation Association and includes discussion of mal-fishing and plastics in our oceans. Through each section, the team makes use of our artifact and live animal collection to introduce concepts and introduce students to live invertebrates from BC’s coast.

In conclusion, educators discuss with students the many career opportunities available to those interested in working in the ocean conservation area, including their own stories – where they started and the path they each took to end up working for Ocean Wise.
