Paddling For A Cleaner Ocean with Passage Adventures
Event Date: 1st May 2018

Jun 4, 2018 by Education Promotion Volunteer

About the Event

Two kayak paddlers shared their story about paddling for a cleaner ocean.

It was a great night at the Vancouver Aquarium hearing about the journey of Mathilde Gordon and Lucy Graham, two paddlers kayaking from Juneau, Alaska to Vancouver Island, Canada. Their plan was to experience new places, take on the elements, connect with nature, challenge ourselves and have fun. They were using the three-month-long paddle to raise awareness of marine debris issues, fundraise for those fighting for ocean protection and conservation, and inspire others. Both of them had been living single-use plastic free since the beginning of 2016, and they talked about Ocean Wises Plastic Wise pledge to the next level by paddling the Inside Passage without use of any single-use plastics.

For more about Mathilde and Lucy, check out their website Passage Adventures. Here is an article about them in Vancouver Is Awesome!
