Hello Sneaky Sea Urchins, Silly Sea Otters & parents!
We had a splashtastic first day at Aquacamps!
First we went to camp intro in front of our sea lions, where we learned about the expectations at camp and also learned the Ocean song.
We said good morning to all of our marine mammals!
Then we went outside to sign our community contracts.
We played a couple icebreaker games like What Time is it Mr. Sea Star, the Adaptation game (where we learned about some of the adaptations that deep sea animals have), and Otter Urchin Kelp.
After eating our delicious lunches, we did a herring dissection.
To finish off our day we played a Salmon relay game where we learned about the life cycle of salmon.
Some questions to ask your campers:
- What was your favourite part about the herring dissection? What does the fish look like inside, and what does the fish use these body parts for?
- What kinds of adaptations do deep sea animals have to cope with their harsh habitat?
Tomorrow we have a lot of fintastic stuff in store! Sea you tomorrow!
