Seiji & Marisa's Camp: Final Day

Aug 2, 2019 at 10:45 PM by Marisa Yip

Hey Chill Sea Otter & Amazing Chicken Parents!

Whale, whale, whale, we had a sure had an arrayzing time at Aquacamps this week.

We started off our day by watching our camp educator skit. Our camp educators were dressed as Seavengers. The Therminator was trying to warm up the earth and the avengers tried to stop him. However, after stopping the Therminator, Bullfrog Thanos took the Time stone from Dr. Strangeray and continued to warm up the planet and snapped 50% of our heroes out of existence! Would the rest of the surviving avengers team be able to save the planet?

Next, we said good morning to all of our marine mammals and said hello to a brand new addition to our aquarium team, Jessica Seal, a new harbour seal.

After snack, we went on a plankton tow and learned about how important plankton are to our marine food chains. We even saw some phytoplankton under the microscope.

Then we made thank you cards for some very important people at the aquarium.

After lunch, we dissected a squid and learned about squid anatomy.

The we went outside and played a theme game.

To finish off the day we learned the conclusion to our leader skit. With help from Plankton Man, the avengers were able to go back in time and stop Thanos by fighting climate change with help from our campers. Then we sang the Axolotl song!

Questions to ask your camper:

- How can we fight climate change?

- What was the most interesting body part of the squid? What did it look like, and what does the squid use this for?

We hope your campers had as much fun as we did this week! Hope you all have a splashtastic summer, and thank you for coming to Aquacamps!

Thank you for another great Aqua Camp! No matter how often we visit the Aquarium we always manage to come away with a new tidbit of knowledge. One of our favourite pastimes for sure.

Kudos to all the camp leaders and organizers!
