Hello YELPers!
We had such a jam-packed and busy day today and really put our leadership skills to the test, learning some crazy new stuff!
What we did:
- We started our day with a trip to a lab in West Van where we learnt about research on microplastics and animals like belugas!
- After lunch we were measuring, sorting and weighing the garbage collected from yesterday's shoreline cleanup. We collected almost 800 pieces of garbage, weighing 5 pounds in total.
- Jessica from the BC Cetaceans Sightings Network came to deliver a program on killer whales! We were able to be killer whale researchers ourselves, and help map the distribution of sightings from the BCCSN!
Questions to ask:
- What did you learn at the lab in West Van?
- What are some differences between killer whale populations in BC?
Thank you YELPers and we will see you all again tomorrow!
