Hi YELP Leaders and Parents!
What a great start to our week of YELP! It was great to meet the newest group of YELP leaders, we can't wait to see them learn about and tackle ocean issues throughout the week!
What did we do today?
We started off our day with a big name game so that we could all get to know each other.
The YELPers were then set the challenge of completing a personal mind map focused on our Oceans! Each leader came up with some fantastic ocean themes and key messages.
We were next joined by some staff from Ocean Wise’s Mobile Programs team. They led us through how to present to kids of different age groups and they helped us brainstorm games, crafts, and stories that we are going to share with the AquaCampers later this week in a fun leadership activity.
Afterwards, the YELPers spent the rest of their morning getting to know the aquarium, from the building itself to the animals and conservation messages hidden throughout the galleries!
We then participated in a water workshop where we learned the ways that we can impact water and how it cycles through our environment.
To end our day, we started working on our Crash Course projects where we will get the chance to educate the public on important ocean topics.
Questions to ask your YELPers
1. What is one new thing you learned about our conservation work at the Vancouver Aquarium during your gallery exploration?
