Hello YELPers!
We had such a jam-packed and busy day today and really put our leadership skills to the test! The YELPers really stepped it up and impressed us all with their creativity, teamwork and organization leading activities for the campers.
What we did:
- We started our day with measuring, sorting and weighing the garbage collected from yesterday's shoreline cleanup. We collected almost 1000 pieces of garbage, weighing 6.3 kg in total.
- We watched a very cool and very scary 4D Shark show! We were dazzled by the insane effects and captivated by the lives of these fascinating creatures.
- We worked on our Crash Course films! The YELPers worked hard in their teams to continue to plan, edit and film their videos.
- We presented our programs, put together with Mobile Programs. The YELPers really impressed us all with their engaging and inspiring skit, fun games and creative crafts!
- Jessica from the BC Cetaceans Sightings Network came to deliver a program on killer whales! We were able to be killer whale researchers ourselves, and help map the distribution of sightings from the BCCSN!
Questions to ask:
- Why is citizen science important for conservation efforts?
- What is something you learnt about engaging audiences through the Mobile Programs activity?
Thank you YELPers and we will see you all again tomorrow!
-Jay
