Hi YELP!
Thank you for another awesome day at YELP! There was lots of learning for all of us today, going through lots of experiences together.
What we did:
- We kicked off the day with a behind-the-scenes tour of the Shark Penthouse and the Frog Greenhouses, containing the animals involved in the captive breeding program for endangered species of frogs. It was very cool to see conservation in action, and our senior amphibian biologist Darren come in and share his insight into the importance of these sorts of efforts.
- Angela and Wade, our aquarium biologists, came into the Wet Lab and showed us around! They shared their experiences as aquarists working at the Vancouver Aquarium, the path to becoming a marine biologist, and what we can do to help our oceans today.
- The YELPers prepared, facilitated and lead the AquaCamp Great Canadian Shoreline Cleanup! About 80 campers participated, with one camp from the Stanley Park Ecology Society joining us. Check in tomorrow to find out how much garbage we collected off of our beaches!
Questions to ask:
- How can our individual actions make a difference on the big picture?
- What leadership style are you? How can you best use your own strengths to lead your community to success?
Thanks! See y'all tomorrow!
-Jay
