Join Dr. Sylvia Earle, her daughter Liz Taylor, and Vicky Vasquez for this special Sharktober DIVE IN episode. Victoria brings a unique blend of scientist, animal behaviorist, storyteller, researcher, and educator to the role of building awareness about ocean ecology. She has accrued nearly a decade’s worth of experience in marine education with a special interest in collaborating with Spanish speakers and underserved communities. Her fascination with sharks started with tagging and tracking great white sharks early in her career.

Vicky joins Sylvia and Liz to talk about her work in the lab and the discovery of the lantern shark, and the importance of connecting careers in science and ocean study to underserved communities. She believes that ocean stewardship means giving younger generations multiple opportunities to practice in this field.

Please join us for this special SHARKTOBER edition of DIVE IN as Sylvia, Liz, and Vicky talk not only about the science of sharks, but how diversity of thought and background leads to better science and better outcomes. The ensuing solutions from this diverse base are critical to the long-term health of the ocean and the planet.

“DIVE IN with Sylvia & Liz” is a casual, free-flowing, and educational conversation and encourages ocean enthusiasts of all ages to join and participate.
