Join Rueben George, a Hereditary Tsleil-Waututh Chief, who has worked extensively with Sacred Trust, the Tsleil-Waututh Nation, and other community groups on protection and stewardship in his territories and beyond.
In this session, Reuben will talk about the incredible work the Nation has done in supporting salmon and aquaculture in the area, collaboratively restoring the land, and the more recent reintroduction of caribou into the area. He’ll also outline some of the threats in the Tsleil-Waututh territory and how his community has been involved in working to mitigate them, including the practices of a local cement plant, the Trans Mountain pipeline extension, the Kinder Morgan plant in Burnaby, and more.
Join this free session and learn about some of the work happening locally to care for the land and its people!
