About Me

Summary: I'm an Ontarian now residing in British Columbia since 2018. Watching animals fascinates me and I'm particularly interested in sharks. My move to BC was fueled by a desire to work in a field related to marine biology. Circumstances led to a job in rodent husbandry then woodworking, but I hope to get back on track and do something involving marine biology in a non-public-facing role.

Long Version: I have always been fascinated by animals, but in later years that fascination became focused around marine animals with a focus on Sharks. I graduated from the University of Waterloo with a BSc in Biomedical Sciences but focused my electives on Zoology and Animal Physiology. I earned my open water diving certification with PADI back in 2012 but haven't had many chances to put it to use. My most memorable dives have been in the Red Sea, but I've also dove in a flooded quarry and a lake. One of the last courses relating to marine biology I've taken was about the quantitative study of fisheries or fish populations. I am very interested in that field although I, admittedly, know very little of it. I hope to make connection though the Direct Action Program and learn more about opportunities and jobs in the field of marine biology or conservation.
