About Me
I got an early appreciation for the ocean as I spent my first six years of my life on Northern Vancouver Island in Port McNeill, where I spent a good chunk of time with my dad out on the water and gained a solid appreciation for a good wet coast rainy day. Even when we moved to the interior, I never lost my love for the ocean and its wildlife, so I found myself coming back out to do a degree in biology at UVic.
The past few summers I have had the privilege to work on a whale watching vessel as a naturalist and deckhand and, educating the public on our local flora and fauna and important conservation efforts that must be made to help them. As grateful as I am to have had this experience, I am excited to join this program to take a step away from the commercial aspect of my previous work and get a more hands on approach to cetacean research.
In my spare time I'm a big fan of going out and looking at birds and taking some pics if they let me :)
