Ocean Wise Aquablog
Description
As so many Ocean Bridge Direct Action participants are accomplishing great, unique things across the country, Ocean Wise is hoping to share that work on its storytelling platform, Aquablog.
HOW TO PARTICIPATE:
- Signal your intention to write a blog with your Ocean Wise staff member, and work with them to find the best target date/slot for you.
- Once you are finished your piece, send the writing and photos to your staff member, as well as to Ocean Bridge’s communications coordinator, Benjamin Aubé, at benjamin.aube@ocean.org
Tips:
- Write from personal experience and generally in 1st person - this is your story to tell and your topic to choose!
- Add photos! Include two to four images (or more…options are always good!) along with photo credits, where necessary, when you send in your written piece.
- Include links to articles/references to back up statements of fact whenever possible (or link to related content)
- Quality over quantity. Aim for the 400-600 word mark – but going over/under is not the end of the world. (Note: Your blog may be edited by Ocean Wise)
- Whenever possible, think about how you can include Indigenous perspectives, or perspectives of oft-marginalized people – those perspectives can be based on your own life and experience, or those you’ve learned or researched.
Please share any questions or comments with your Direct Action Program Specialist. Thank you for your contributions!
