About Me

I was born and raised in Canada’s beautiful capital, Ottawa, Ontario. I have a love for nature and the outdoors that sprouted from a young age by spending summers swimming, hiking and exploring at the family cottage.

My interests in the natural world and conservation led me to pursue degrees in Environmental Science (BSc) and Biology (MSc) at Carleton University. My love for the ocean began during my study abroad at the University of the West Indies on the Caribbean Island of Barbados. I love to surf, stand-up paddle board and canoe.

I have diverse research interests in conservation science, fisheries management, science transfer, human dimensions, health and connection to nature.

I am passionate about environmental education and stewardship and I have the desire to create meaningful opportunities for Canadians to connect with nature. I am co-director of Wild Roots Nature and Forest School. I truly believe that when people come into contact and make meaningful connections to nature at a young age, the more they will be willing to fight for nature’s protection in adulthood.
