About Me

lover of all thing’s nature and outdoors, from hiking and rock climbing, to swimming and tennis. When I am not out enjoying the rain or sunshine, I love to paint, read, and practice yoga! Growing up on a small lake in Ontario I had the invaluable opportunity to be immersed in nature where I would be out fishing in my kayak or wandering the forests with my dog. It was here I gained a deep relationship with and growing interest in the flora and fauna around me which sparked my passion for species and ecosystem conservation. Witnessing the environmental changes that are occurring not only on a global scale but in our own communities, from species loss to habitat degradation, I felt that in furthering my education I wanted to find something that would enable me to foster positive change. This internal drive to contribute to the preservation of our valued spaces and wildlife, led me to pursue and complete an honors degree in Ecological Restoration. Throughout my undergrad I obtained experience in aquatic research, invasive species management and lake ecology in addition to engaging and educating my community on the importance of aquatic ecosystem health and ways they could improve habitat quality.

These experiences along with my education have opened so many exciting doors for me, as a recent graduate I have continued to seek out opportunities that will test my comfort zone. In the last year I have worked for a biodiversity monitoring company where I flew in a helicopter to some of the most remote wilderness areas of Alberta and to push my boundaries further, I flew across the world to New Zealand where I worked on a remote island nature reserve! Amazing things can happen when you open yourself up to experiencing the unknown, I have learned so much about myself and have built meaningful connections and acquired rewarding skills. My goals are to continue to learn, educate, connect, and share my passion for conserving this one and only incredible planet we call home.

I am excited for my placement with Parks Canada and the doors it will open for me - cheers to the future !
