Description
Alan Shapiro--Science Communication Specialist

Alan Shapiro is a Vancouver-based environmental professional and science communicator with a particular interest in engaging the public and policymakers on water issues. He is Co-founder and Director of Science Slam Canada, a non-profit organization that runs community science outreach events (Science Slams) across the country. He also works as a Science Communication Specialist with LitScience, providing science communication training including improvisation and storytelling for academic, research, and technical organizations. Wearing his water hat, Alan serves on the Youth Advisory Board for Waterlution and consults on water resources projects across the country, from applying blockchain tools for water conservation to studying the psychology of water use. Alan holds a MSc in Environmental Engineering from Columbia University and a BSc in Environmental Earth Science from the University of Alberta.
