I recently spent two months travelling through Bali and the Philippines. While both places were stunning, I felt like I could never fully enjoy the views as they were always accompanied by piles of trash. It was really discouraging to see; most locals didn't seem to understand the importance of keeping garbage and plastic out of our oceans and I saw many seemingly "educated" foreign people happily throwing their litter on the ground because well "everyone else was doing it". Though you could often find bottle refill stations, too many people would still resort to buying a new plastic water bottle whenever they were thirsty, often because they were just plain lazy. It was a frustrating experience but made me really thankful for this group and other groups of people who care equally as much as I do about cleaning our oceans, protecting them and keeping them healthy. Thank you Ocean Bridge for connecting me with so many likeminded people!!
