Since the COVID 19 pandemic has started, many organizations have been offering free webinars on every topic imaginable. I have taken advantage of these webinars and have been learning lots about the ocean, marine mammals, and plastic pollution. One of my favourite webinars was an Open Spaces conversation organized by Ocean Bridger Graeme Shaw. He invited Brooke Harrison from Georgian Bay Forever to speak about the impacts of microplastics in the Great Lakes. The conversation was very eye-opening for me and made me rethink my plastic usage and look into what steps I can take to reduce my plastic consumption and disposal. I am very grateful to all the people and organizations who put in the energy to offer these resources so that I can improve my ocean literacy knowledge even while being stuck indoors.
