'Small is Bountiful: The Contribution of Small-Scale Fisheries to Ocean Sustainability and Innovation'
On World Oceans Day, the Ocean Frontier Institute joined forces with its partner Too Big To Ignore and other organizations from around the globe to celebrate the contribution of small-scale fisheries to ocean sustainability and innovation! 'Small is Bountiful' was a week-long series of online events that brought attention to the importance of small-scale fisheries, celebrated their contributions, and facilitated a dialogue about an inclusive, equitable and just development of the ocean. From June 1-5, we held a webinar series on pressing issues such as the impacts of COVID-19 on small-scale fisheries, the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and specifically SDG 14.b, the use of a Human Rights-Based Approach (HRBA) for implementing the Small-Scale Fisheries Guidelines, and called for Blue Justice for small-scale fisheries. On June 8, we went around the globe in 24 hours for a series of online panel discussions and an exciting art festival! In case you missed it, you can still watch all of our recorded webinars, panel discussion and art festival on this YouTube playlist: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLMwWC8hfI8Pv2BLlzUkqDsSN15xislxzs
