As a part of our service project, Brigitte and I created a social media campaign asking youth to submit artwork of ANY kind that answers the question "What does Lake Superior mean to you?". For this contest, we reached out to many local artists, creators, and stores for prizes - here are a few! My personal favourites include handmade felted mermaid dolls by a local 12 year old, a beautiful beaded pin (check our Brigitte's picture of this in the gallery!), and BEAM paints (an Indigenous owned business from Manitoulin Island - SO BEAUTIFUL). We found plenty of books by local authors and Indigenous authors, local honey, science kits, about 7 gift cards to a local Thunder Bay bakery and gelato place, and MORE. Some prizes were even donated by Parks Canada, Three Huggers (beeswax wraps), and the Thunder Bay Art Gallery. I had the pleasure of reaching out to our contest winners and delivered the prizes this week which was absolutely amazing. I've even gotten some emails with pictures of the youth with their prizes. This has been a great experience that has connected me with my community and our beautiful water. I am sad I don't get to keep one of these kits myself!

This is such a cool idea! These look like really good prizes too.
