About Me

Hello! I am an early-career biogeochemist originally from Ontario, currently working for an intergovernmental organization based out of British Columbia. As a Supporting Member of the British Columbia High Seas Research Council, I facilitate hydrochemical characterization of the single-vessel 2019 International Gulf of Alaska Expedition survey area, and preparation for the proposed multi-vessel 2021 Pan-Pacific High Seas Expedition.

Outside of science-based activities, I have a professional background in government records/information management, am an avid traveler (35 countries over 5 continents and counting!), and have previously volunteered for conservation initiatives like the Marine Arctic Peace Sanctuary (an addendum to the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea - UNCLOS).

An ocean-related issue close to my heart is the physicochemical and biological impacts of both climate change and deep-sea mining on hydrothermal vent communities. The deep-sea is earth’s last true frontier, and unfortunately since it is so difficult to access and monitor not enough resources are allocated to its exploration and protection. I plan to contribute to this as an eventual extreme-environment researcher.
