July 2019: my summer as a naturalist
For me, July was all about talking oceans. After returning home from our time at the Ocean Bridge Lake Superior Expedition, I returned to my position as a naturalist on the coastline between Vancouver Island and the mainland. I had the good fortune of speaking to people of all ages and backgrounds about marine life, and the Gulf Islands on the B.C. coast. Lessons from this month include the following: 1. Sunscreen is liquid gold 2. There is an expert in everything to do with marine life, and all of them will drop in on your presentation at some point. 3. Kids will inherit the earth, and many of them have watched the entirety of David Attenborough's career.
