The downside of lobster season
It’s lobster season here in Nova Scotia which is wonderful! However the rubber bands used on the claws often wash up on beaches and are not biodegradable. I picked up 179 on just one beach this week!

Usually we don't see this many so hopefully it was an accident! Apparently fishermen used to use wooden pegs but it wasn't a great solution either. There is an interesting article on it here: https://www.saltwire.com/news/lobster-band-blues-188978/?location=pictou-county

Wow - so sad! I know a lot of fishing gear is tagged to it can be traces to a person.
