This workshop will be an introduction to storytelling for those wishing to influence the public with regards to environmental and social justice issues. It will cover why storytelling is an essential skill, what are the elements of a good story, and how to create empathy.

Meet our speaker

Ted Oakes is an award-winning Canadian filmmaker who has been making natural history TV series for the BBC for over 20 years. He is the owner of Oak Island Films which has offices in Ottawa and Bristol, UK. Ted was originally a biologist and environmental campaigner who uses films and story-telling to change public understanding of nature and as tools for environmental change. He has a PhD in Zoology from Oxford University and he is a Fellow of the Royal Canadian Geographic Society. He's currently working on a major TV series Great Lakes Untamed and associated environmental campaign.
