Paddling the Rideau
Three of us Ocean Ambassadors (Anika Smithson, Danika Guppy, and Monika Szpytko (myself)) paddled into October 2020 on the Rideau River. We paddled 202 km in 8 days on the Rideau River from Kingston to Ottawa. The time restraints made it a really challenging physical endeavor as we worked hard to host some garbage cleanups, BioBlitz events with the community science app iNaturalist, and conducted some interviews along the way to promote conservation along the waterway. Nice to see we also got some coverage to spread the word about how simple an act sustainability can be when you engage your community.
