Hello/Bonjour. In this video I will be walking you through how to post a photo into the gallery on TIGed.
At Ocean Bridge we love seeing photos of you folks in action at learning journeys or doing your action projects! We encourage you to post on social media using #OceanWiseYouth. If you don’t have social media you can also share some photos in the Gallery available under community tools.
There are two types of photos you could be uploading, learning journey photos and action project photos. Any urban or remote learning journey photo will be uploaded into a specific year folder and, into your specific regional cohort.
For any action project related photos you can upload them into the action project folder. You can also explore this folder to see Action projects from previous years to find inspiration!
As an example, we are going to upload this photo of a beeswax wrap workshop I hosted as one of my action projects during the 2019 cohort.
First, click into the proper folder. For this photo we will click into action projects
Next, click upload image. If you have a video you want to upload you can embed videos from youtube or vimeo
Next, add a title – we are naming this Beeswax wrap workshop, click upload your image, and next we are going to add a short description
For my description we are going to put "Delivering my first Beeswax wrap workshop with friends and classmate from Simon Fraser University’s Semester in Dialogue!"
One extra step that we will request is to add an alt text description for screen readers. Alt text allows for people with visual impairments to understand what is going on in the photo
The alt text for this photo will be “A person named Frankie is standing in front of a screen giving an introduction to her beeswax wrap workshop”. Please see below this video to find resources on ALT Text descriptions.
Next you want to ensure that it is visible for everyone in the class to see!
And finally you are going to hit upload image.
Tada! Your image is now uploaded in the gallery!
I hope this video was helpful and that you feel equipped to be uploading photos onto the gallery community tool on TIGed
Thank you/ Merci
